Directory update: 2021-11-18

FATF status is not a sanctions designation. Countries outside this reference are not assessed here. U.S. thematic programs and EU, UK or UN measures need separate review.

Primary sources: OFAC programs directory; FATF increased monitoring and call for action statements. Snapshot checked 2026-10-21. OFAC “directory update” dates belong to individual program listings, not the start of every restriction.

Regional and thematic OFAC programs outside the country mapping

These programs may affect parties or activities in countries that have no separate country-program entry above.

This reference presents source facts and links, not a risk score. Review the official material for later changes, licensing, exclusions and the scope of each measure.

FATF grey list versus black list

The grey list refers to jurisdictions under increased monitoring. The black list is a common name for high-risk jurisdictions subject to a call for action. The specific response differs by jurisdiction: read the official statement rather than treating every category as the same instruction.

Use country context in a risk-based review

FATF increased monitoring does not itself call for blanket enhanced due diligence or cutting off an entire class of customers. Consider the official statement alongside the relationship, your applicable requirements and the facts of the customer or transaction.

A dated snapshot with primary sources

The table uses the FATF statements identified below. Publication dates describe the source, while the checked date describes our review. Entries remain visible if an upstream website is unavailable; they do not silently become a newer assessment.

FATF country explorer: common questions

What does FATF stand for?

FATF is the Financial Action Task Force, an intergovernmental body that develops standards addressing money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.

Is the FATF grey list a sanctions list?

No. A jurisdiction’s FATF status and sanctions measures are separate facts. Screen the relevant people and companies and review applicable country or activity restrictions independently.

Does absence from these lists mean low risk?

No. It only means the jurisdiction is not named in the two statements used for this snapshot. It is not a low-risk rating, an endorsement of its controls or a transaction approval.

How often does FATF update these statements?

FATF normally issues these public statements three times a year. Always check the publication date and linked official list for a later statement before relying on a saved snapshot.
