Which details help distinguish two people with the same name?
Compare reliable dates of birth, addresses and identity-document details where the source provides them. Keep partial dates partial: a year alone is not an exact birthday. Do not infer nationality or a birth date from someone’s name.
Should I check a person’s aliases as well as their main name?
Yes. A source can publish former names, alternate spellings or aliases. Read how the publisher labels each name. A weak alias or a similar spelling is a reason to investigate, not proof that two records identify the same person.
