Start with the authorities your activity involves
There is no single global sanctions list that settles every legal question. Authorities publish different subjects, measures, and dates. Combining sources can broaden a review, but it cannot turn a name check into worldwide legal clearance.
List the countries, authorities, and types of restriction your policy requires. Then compare that need with available sources. A financial-sanctions list, an export-control list, and a procurement list may each answer a different part of your review.
Choose named sources or a fixed package version
SanctionsKit accepts an explicit sources array or a versioned package. Each package version has fixed membership. A later version can add a source without changing the meaning of the version you used before.
For example, keep the package version with a completed customer check. If your policy later adds a required source, make that change explicit for future checks. Read the coverage returned by the API alongside the package you requested.
Treat a missing required source as an incomplete check
A required source that is disabled, unqualified, or too stale prevents successful screening. SanctionsKit returns an error. It does not drop the source and label the smaller check as no match.
Use an operational hold or another approved review process for that error. Only change the required selection through an explicit decision under your policy. The fact that one source is available does not make it a substitute for another.
Check current availability before relying on a package
Package membership is fixed by version; source availability can change. Current coverage shows records and successful check times. Source discovery gives the available source and package details.
Save the returned source selection with the result. It lets a later reviewer see what the completed check actually covered, even if your requirements or the available sources have since changed.

Is there one global list for every sanctions requirement?
No. Different authorities and list categories cover different measures. Choose the sources your activity requires and keep any wider legal questions in a separate review.
Can a package gain a source without changing its version?
Package membership is fixed by version. A new version can contain a different set of sources, but it does not silently change the selection represented by an earlier version.
What happens when one required package member is unavailable?
The request cannot complete successfully. Handle the coverage error as an incomplete check and follow your approved recovery process. Do not read it as a no-match result.
