UK Sanctions List: current source and screening scope

Use the current UK list

The UK Sanctions List is the government’s current source for UK sanctions designations. The former OFSI Consolidated List of Asset Freeze Targets closed on 28 January 2026 and no longer receives updates. An old OFSI download cannot serve as a current list.

SanctionsKit’s uk-sanctions source reads the UK Sanctions List XML published by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, or FCDO. The UK source profile shows records and refresh information for that feed.

Check the subject and the measures

The list includes people, entities, and ships. Look at the subject type and available identity details when you review a possible match. Two entries with similar names may refer to different kinds of subjects.

Keep the source’s measure descriptions with the record. A result should not imply that every UK entry has the same restrictions. Follow the current official material to assess the measures relevant to your activity.

Know what each date and source means

The import keeps designation dates, record updates, and document generation metadata separate. A file generation date tells you about the document. It does not establish when every listed measure took legal effect.

Other UK financial and investment restriction material has its own scope. A check against uk-sanctions does not silently include every separate UK restriction. Save the selected sources with the result so another reviewer can see what was checked.

Check the UK list reference in your downstream system

Confirm that an integration retains the FCDO reference and the available designation detail instead of replacing them with a generic UK flag. A reviewer can then return to the correct official entry when names or measures change. Compare your requested source with the UK dataset profile and keep any wider trade-sanctions work in its own review step.
