OFAC SDN List screening
Review names and identifiers from the SDN source while keeping ownership rules and transaction analysis outside the match result.

What the SDN source represents
The source ID ofac-sdn refers to the SDN data distributed by OFAC’s Sanctions List Service. Records can describe people, organizations, vessels, and aircraft. The adapter preserves entity type, aliases, identifiers, program labels, and available remarks instead of reducing the source to a set of names.
An exact name is a candidate for review, not proof that the subject is the listed party. Compare identifying details, the original entry, and the current official material before reaching a conclusion. Missing information on either side does not establish that the parties differ.
A list cannot answer every ownership question
OFAC’s ownership guidance can apply to entities absent from the SDN List. SanctionsKit does not research ownership chains, calculate aggregated ownership, or establish whether an unlisted entity is blocked. A no-match result therefore cannot replace an ownership review.
Source retrieval and actual publication timestamps are kept separate in evidence. The SDN source profile reports records and refresh information. Use the ownership guide for a worked explanation of why a list check cannot establish an unlisted company’s ownership status.
Choosing available coverage
Choose the sources relevant to your workflow from current coverage. The directory shows available sources, record counts, and successful refresh times. The public demonstration and sandbox use invented records; production requests use the coverage you select.
Use source discovery to select named sources or a versioned package. Requested sources that are unknown, unavailable, or too stale cause an explicit error. SanctionsKit does not silently remove them from your request or report an incomplete check as a no-match result.
